Records and Administration Unit

ADMINISTRATION

The administrative unit coordinates front counter services, including fingerprinting and lost and found. This unit initially oversees all requests for service in order to direct requests to the proper entities within the department. The administrative unit is open for public services Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, and may be contacted by calling (949) 824-8073 or (949) 824-1885.

FINGERPRINTING / LIVESCAN SERVICES

Fingerprinting is available Monday – Friday,  9:00am - 4:00pm. To make an appointment for fingerprinting, please call (949) 824-1885. Clients must arrive early or be on time to avoid rescheduling. Clients must bring valid government/state issued photo identification.

The cost of ink fingerprinting is $15.00 for one card and $5.00 for each additional one. The cost of LiveScan fingerprinting is variable depending upon the type of service required, and some entities will pay for all or part of this service.
Typical costs are as follows:

  • Department of Justice clearance – $32.00
  • FBI and Department of Justice clearance – $51.00
  • UCIPD rolling fee - $20.00

RECORDS

The records unit manages and controls all records for the UCI Police Department. This unit processes all records requests in order to ensure proper release. The records unit is open for public services Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, and may be contacted by calling (949) 824-7798.

CRIME REPORTS

Reports of a crime are taken at the police department 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. After business hours, a phone in the UCIPD lobby is available with instructions for directly contacting the Dispatch Center.

Anonymous or confidential information may be reported online at the “Silent Witness” link.

CRIMINAL CLEARANCE LETTERS (FOR VISA PURPOSES) $15.00

Local records reviews and criminal clearance letters are available.

CRIMINAL REPORTS REQUESTS

To request a copy of a crime report, mail your written request to UCI Police Department, Attn: Records. Request form (pdf). Crime reports can only be obtained by an authorized person such as the victim, the victim's representative, or as provided in Section 6254 of the Government Code.

LOST AND FOUND SERVICES

The administrative unit logs all found property or reports of lost property that are given to the police department.

Any person who wants to inquire about lost property may do so by filling out the online Report a Lost Item form, from 8am to 5pm Monday-Friday at the UCI Police Department front counter, or by calling (949) 824-1885. After hours, a lost property card may be completed and dropped into the lock box located in the UCIPD front lobby.

Any person may turn in found property at the UCI Police Department front lobby at any hour of the day. After business hours, a found property card should be completed and attached to the item, then dropped in the lock box located in the UCIPD front lobby. If an item either appears to be valuable, or is too large for the lock box, please ring the doorbell for assistance, or using the phone in the lobby, dial 4-5223 to inform the dispatchers that found property is being turned in.

After 90 days, unclaimed items are sold at auction. You can view the auction online at PropertyRoom.com.

BICYCLE LICENSING

Any person with a bicycle on campus is encouraged to license the bicycle with the UCI Police Department.

Bicycle licenses are available for no charge between 8am-5pm Monday-Friday at the UCI Police Department front counter

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

All persons required to register with the UCI Police Department pursuant to criminal conviction may do so between 8am-5pm Monday-Friday at the UCI Police Department front counter.

RELEASE OF PROPERTY FROM EVIDENCE

The watch commander on duty or the detective investigating a case reviews all requests for release of property that was taken into evidence. This is done by appointment only. Call (949) 824-5223.

REPORT REQUESTS

Any person requesting a copy of a police report must obtain a report request form from the front counter of the UCI Police Department. This form must be completed to receive a copy of an approved, releasable report for a fee of $5.00. Processing of the request may take up to 10 days.

TRAFFIC CITATION VERIFICATION OF REPAIR (TICKET "SIGN-OFF")

In order for an officer to verify equipment repairs and sign off on a traffic citation, the vehicle must be present. Requests for this procedure can be made at the UCI Police Department front counter.

VEHICLE IMPOUND RELEASES

Release of a vehicle from impound requires the registered owner to have valid identification, valid proof of ownership, and proof of current registration. If the vehicle was impounded due to suspended or revoked license, a second individual with a valid driver’s license must also be present. Impound release requests are reviewed and approved by the Watch Commander on duty, and a minimum $45.00 release charge may apply.

RESIDENCE VACATION CHECK

Housing residents on campus that do not live in a residence hall may request a patrol check of their residence while they are on vacation or away from home for an extended period of time. The request may be submitted by calling Dispatch at (949) 824-5223 or by completing a "Residence Vacation Check" form in person at the Administration's front counter or via the online form below.
