The UC Irvine Police Department and the Anteater Recreation Center are sponsoring a personal empowerment and safety education program designed specifically for boys and girls.
Objective
The radKIDS Objective: To provide educational opportunities for children and parents, concerning awareness and self defense strategies, instilling confidence and reducing the possibility of being involved in adverse situations."
What is radKIDS?
radKIDS is the leading educator in realistic and empowering personal safety education for both children and parents. The radKIDS Program is providing children with hope, options, and practical skills to RECOGNIZE, AVOID and ESCAPE violence and abuse.
Our mission is to educate children with the tools, knowledge and power to recognize and avoid danger as well as to resist and protect themselves from physical abuse.
The radKIDS program is based on the foundation of a structured educational curriculum that includes realistic physical skills to escape attack or abduction. The martial arts programs that most children are involved in today are typically competition-based, and are usually centered around either sport or combat arts. radKIDS is not a sport, and specifically teaches children how *not* to fight. radKIDS provides the children in our world today with realistic skills to recognize,
avoid, resist and, when necessary, escape physical violence and/or harm.
radKIDS is a comprehensive, foundational safety education program for children aged 5-7 and 8-12. Return and practice free until 12th birthday!
Why radKIDS?
radKIDS believes that the best way we can protect our children is to empower our children with information and resources they need to immediately recognize danger and respond effectively in protecting their safety. This does two vitally important things. It eliminates the fear, confusion and panic that is inherent in dangerous situation and replaces that fear with confidence, skills and self-esteem. The key is giving them the power!
Every parent whose child participates in a radKIDS program receives a copy of our Parent's Manual. The Parent's Manual includes all the information presented in the program and is written for parents and children to read together -- To review, learn, and share. All parents are welcome, and all are encouraged to actively participate in the Program with their child, creating a true Safety Education Partnership.
