Dear UCI Community,

This is to provide you with an update on the former UCI student in custody at the county jail. Previous messages were shared with you on April 19 and May 31. We are committed to keeping the community updated regarding the prosecution of this individual.

The former student remains incarcerated in county jail where bail has been set at $1 million. UCI continues to work closely with the Orange County District Attorney’s office, which has informed us that the trial is scheduled for August 2, 2022. I want to reiterate that UCI Police and campus leaders are being vigilant and proactive about protecting our community, and we remain committed to your safety as our number one priority.

As a friendly reminder, please be alert and report any suspicious behavior, persons or items to UCI Police Department at 949-824-5223.

We are fortunate to have a range of resources of support for our community. Students who would like mental health and/or well-being support may contact the UCI Counseling Center at https://counseling.uci.edu/ or 949-824-6457. Faculty and staff may contact the Employee Assistance Program for support resources.

Stay safe,

Liz Griffin
