SAFER

The SAFER Program at the UCI Police Department is designed to help foster engagement and responsibility between the Police Department and the students, faculty, staff and visitors we serve. Each area of the campus community has a sergeant assigned to that area for the specific purpose of engaging the community to develop relationships, solve problems and provide a method for streamlining the Police Department’s response to community needs.

Each sergeant assigned to these areas leads a team of officers who support community outreach efforts. The sergeant and officers take ownership of concerns in their area and actively seek input and help from the community to develop practical solutions. They also recognize that the stronger the relationship between the department and the community, the more effective we are at addressing the issues and concerns facing the campus. Together, we accomplish more.
